  6.29.02 11:27 PM (Saturday)  Bored!
Aah, I can't wait for June to be over. Then it'll be July. But what will that solve... hmm

Friday's weather sucked so much. It rained the entire day! I used the UW student paper as a pseudo-umbrella when walking from building to building. It was quite ineffective though.

Before class, I went to Mary Gates Hall for maybe 15 minutes to study for my first quiz in Econ with Austin, except he was studying Calc review. I was so worried. You think college is going to be so different from high school, but in some aspects, it really isn't. Needless to say, the Econ quiz wasn't so hard, but it was only three questions, so I question my score on it (cuz I know I got the second answer wrong due to addition problems...)

After classes I waited for Khaliun outside Denny, but knew she wouldn't come because she said she would get out early. I went to lunch alone at the same Thai restaurant, and pondered how I would spend the two hours I had left until the Key Club officer's meeting. I walked back to campus in the rain, and headed for Odegaard.

The Odegaard Undergraduate Library is such a cool facility, and a great place for studying. I read my Psych textbook (which is quite interesting) straight through the two hours I had.

So at 4 I went to the cafe across the street from Bulldog News for the Key Club officer's meeting. It was quite unproductive ^_^; But it's all good. It was just me (TRESASURER! YOU KNOW!), Daniel (VP), and Justin (Secretary.) Christina (Bulletin Editor) was supposed to show but it was her mother's b-day... and Lily (President) is away in Spain. We figured out that 1) Our meetings need to me more fun and active. And I think that's it, lol. As a result we'll try to have food at each meeting next year, among other things.

And that was Friday. Today, I got a haircut in the morning, but just relaxed the whole day (read this as doing basically nothing.)

So.... I need a summer game. Summer of '00 I was immersed with Legend of Mana (great game), and last year I was playing BOF IV (good, not as good as other RPG's I've played.) Arguably, I was playing DDR for most of the late summer last year too. Hmmmmmm....
  6.27.02 8:52 PM (Thursday)  jaded...
It was cooler today. Better.

Nothing too interesting, but in Econ we went over these model exam questions and I got the feeling no one really understood how they worked... I sure as heck didn't.

Lunch today at a Thai restaurant, Noodle House I think it was called. Mmm...

Man, lately I've been feeling so jaded. I thought hanging out at the UW would bring new experiences for me, and it has to some extent, but... it's more of the same: stress.

And the social aspect of my life has been so stagnant recently. I really have no friends to talk to, or hang out with anymore. And that really sucks. I've got a problem, who do I turn to? I play mind games with myself. "If only I could go back to a year ago..." Or even six months ago. Aah, things were so much better back then. It just feels as if my life gets worse with each passing day.

I'm sure no one's reading this. God, life sucks so much right now. The only thing, and I truly do mean only thing I have going for me in life is my academic life. It's a life full of stress, but without other aspects in my life to excell in... it really doesn't bring me much happiness.

It's been so long since there was a day when I just plain out had fun.

Well, whatever..
6.26.02 9:00 PM (Wednesday)  Third day
It was so hot today! I hate hot weather. It makes me... sweaty.

So I was actually late for class today. I left the house at 9, and Psych starts at 9:40, and I was 10 minutes late to lecture. Hmm...

On the other hand, we were talking about experiments and statistical stuff today in Psych lecture. Scatterplots, correlation, cause-and-effect, confounding variables, decsriptive and inferential stats... mwahaha I was like "Whoa this is exciting."

Lectures in all three courses, that seems like the usual college way. Reminds me so much of AP US History. And right now I'm so lost in Econ...

After classes, Khaliun and I went to lunch at IHOP, and got basically the same thing as when we went to Denny's on the first day o_O Hmmmm.
6.25.02 6:00 PM (Tuesday)  A disaster waiting to happen
Today just flat out sucked because I was so goddamn tired!

Let's recap. Last night i only got 3 (THREE) hours of sleep due to incessant textbook reading! It took me two hours to read most of Chapter 1 in my Psych text., and I skimmed through my MicroEcon reading in about 30 minutes to an hour. That enabled me to sleep at 3, where I was completely beat, and I got three hours so I could wake up at 7.

Today I was supposed to "carpool" with Khaliun, so she could park for free at the UW. Only trouble is, even though I took the bus at 7, I didn't see her today. I have a feeling we won't be carpooling at all--it's such a hassle for me to wake up so early when my efforts will probably be futile each time (we were supposed to meet at the University Bookstore at 7:40 but I got there 8:00).

So that was a bomb. I was falling asleep on the bus, which sucked, and to top it off I had a whole hour to myself. I sat near the fountain and read my Econ text. I chanced upon Megsie, taking Summer Stretch Chem. We have to chill some day. Gil too! After that Austin found me, and we went to the HUB to play pool and I played one game of Pump. I have a feeling I'll be going to the HUB more often to practice my Pump skills... it's a lot different than DDR, but at the same time it's the same.

So finally 9:40 rolled around, Psych started, our first complete lecture. No worries there, I have a feeling it'll be a good class.

In Econ we also had our first lecture. At first I was worried because Mr. Professor's accent is really strong and he misinterpreted a few questions in the beginning, but now I think I've warmed up to him. It's good because it seems everyone else has the patience to warm up to his style, and people were helping explain to him how he misinterpreted those questions.

It kinda reminded me of how I had EMT with Do, the Korean Rhino-master. Except it was funny cuz Lynn and I got a kick out of lying to him on a usual basis. We tricked him into believing I was a 5th-year senior, for instance. But that's random...

Uhh yeah in Asian-American Identity we also started on our first lecture, on culture. I hope the terminology won't be too confusing for me, I hate overanalyzing terms we use and take for granted in everyday talk.

After classes I waited for Khaliun outside of Denny but she didn't show. I'll call her later on to see what's up. Needless to say, I went home without eating lunch due to various reasons. Anyway...
6.24.02 5:10 PM (Monday)  First day of college... haha
BTW, I overslept Saturday, and didn't make it to Walk for Rice. Neither did a lot of other people (because they overslept/forgot...)

So yeah. I woke up hella early and had so much time before my first class, and I was really tired. I went to the 48 bus stop but while there I saw the most curious thing. There was an Asian mother with her Asian (duh.. haha) baby in a stroller, and he looked bored, so she gave him the bus card to play with. The baby laughed when he got the card, but intentionally dropped it and then started tugging on his mother's pant leg so that she would pick it up. She gave it to the baby, who started playing it with again. Then he intentionally dropped it again. And then the mother picked the card up again. And this repeated 5 or 6 times O_O

So yeah I rode the 48 all the way down to the UW and had about an hour before my first class. I took this time to find out where all my classes were, as well as look for Denny, where I would meet Khaliun later. I had tons of extra time left so I just walked around.

So 9:30 rolled around. I nervously went into Johnson hall for my first class, Psychology, a lecture hall. I came inside and didn't really know where to sit, and I was anxious to say the least. Well the class started and it wasn't so bad.. the professor seems pretty cool.

My next class is Intro to Microeconomics at Thomson. Uhh, our professor is Korean, a grad student, and it's his first time teaching, and his English and pronounciation is really bad o_O We spent all of today going over roll (and him mispronouncing everyone's name), and then he gave us reading and we were out of there o_O I wonder how much I'll get out of lecture.

My final class is over at Smith, Asian-American Identity. It seems awesome so far. The professor came off as intelligent and interesting, I'm sure there will be lots of great class discussion and whatnot. I was initially worried I would be the only Asian trying to learn about his/her own identity, but that's not the case... I would say 3/4 of the class is Asian. I picked this class for fun, and I hope it stays that way...

So after my classes I went over to Denny to meet Khaliun so we could have lunch. We went to Denny's to get breakfast items, and yeah. Then we picked up Dave S. at Armand's house, dropped by the bank, and Khaliun dropped me off.

First day of UW = interesting. I just hope it doesn't get too hard.
6.21.02 10:42 PM (Friday)  SAT scores
SAT I
 Math - 740 (98th percentile)
 Verbal - 670 (92nd percentile)

I did better than I expected for the Verbal part, but I'll have to see what I got wrong to see if I actually did miss more than I expected or not (that sentence was confusing...) Otherwise, I did worse than I expected for the math part! I thought I only got one question wrong. I must've gotten at least two wrong. If my math score were 800, I wouldn't retake it, but because my combined score is only 1410, I'm going to have to retake it... study some vocabulary words, and yeah.

So Walk for Rice is tomorrow. It's going to be confusing to say the least; it's too bad our team wasn't as organized as last year.
6.20.02 6:22 PM (Thursday)  What happened to...
What happened to Khaliun today... we were supposed to meet at the University Bookstore to buy books for summer quarter.

I bought my books, all nine of them, and it ended up costing around $245 even though 7 of them were used o_O Well after that I dropped by Chinatown to pick up Hikki's new CD "Deep River." Like all her other CD's, I only like half of the tracks...
6.19.02 3:36 PM (Wednesday)  Last day of school
It was so crappy... I got to school and went to my 4th period, the last period, which for me is EMT. I did practically nothing o_O To top it all off, afterschool there was this (why is it on the last day?) Ignite Mentorship thing. So much for hanging out... afterwards we got food (OOH!), and I got home around 12. No goodbyes, no end, no conclusion to the year.

My schoolyear in review:
This year I...

  Reignited my interest in DDR!
Had the most kick-ass b-day party ever...
  Severed an important friendship
Became distant to my usual crowd of friends (ie, all the people I hung out with last year)
  Became more independent
  Took 5 AP tests
  Hopefully maintained my 4.0

I really hope I know what I'm doing... I still can't help but feel depressed when I think back on this year. Here's hoping for a good summer. And only... 4 more days until school starts for me again O_o
6.18.02 1:33 PM (Tuesday)  Second to last day of school...
...was pretty much a waste of time o_O Statistics and AP LA. Statistics it was only Lynda, me, Rebecca; Lynda left with Ray, I soon left with Belinda, Eric Schoettle (eh however you spell it... hehe) and Meredith to Starbucks. Otherwise I would've died of boredom.

While at Starbucks, we played this curious Mad boardgame, Set (fun!), and Hearts. A good way to spend the period.

AP LA... party atmosphere, nothing too exciting went on.

Called my sister for a ride. I'm hoping tomorrow will be much better.
6.18.02 4:46 AM (Tuesday)  Two more days
Last periods 1, 3, 5. In Japanese we had our skits, which went pretty good, surprisingly I remembered all my lines. We had to give small speechs (it was the last day in a three-year sequence) and I said... "I don't know what to say... kotoba ni naranai kimochi desu." Harhar that's an Utada Hikaru song. And it was a party so we brought food, I spent so much time making this beef thing that was pretty good I guess.

Last US History period! I'm getting a 79.5% which is better than I expected. My analysis got a 250/300 EC which is a lot better than I expected (now that I look back, it's not so bad of a paper.)

We had Meredith's dad as our guest speaker in Calc. It would've been really cool had it been a normal school day and all... it was interesting but, having not slept at all last night... the lecture was on Economics, which is strangely what I'll be taking this summer o_O Ahh well.
  6.15.02 9:01 PM (Saturday)  Graduation
Wow... graduation! I went to Franklin's graduation first to see my sister graduate. I was a little late, and I met Flavia near the escalators at the home plate entrance. To be honest, Franklin's graduation was a little ghetto. It was short too. Flavia wanted to reserve seats for her family, so she put little stickies on some of the best seats at Safeco and hoped no one would take them down.

Then came Garfield's graduation. Although I knew way more seniors than last year, I dunno... I think it was because it was at Safeco that it didn't feel right. I really hope it's not at Safeco next year. And I really hope it's not on a Saturday.

So after that, I hung out with David, Eric, James, and Raymond for the first time in a long time. We really didn't do anything besides stop at McDonald's, so...
6.14.02 7:00 PM (Friday)  Three more days
So... today was the last normal 6-period day of the schoolyear. It went fine. Nothing eventful, a bunch of yearbook signing. 2nd period I found out I'm getting an 89.7% without the project! Hmm. I went to the library during that time, and saw Valerie working the volunteer fair entirely by herself, and she was disappointed b/c all the organizations were late and no classes were coming o_O So she left, and two organizations came, so I ran up to her class in Trimble's to tell her to come back down, and she did, but she had to leave so I manned the Key Club booth... but no one came! Oh well.

The rest of the day ran smoothly, I spent lunch in Stever's where all the junior peeps were signing yearbooks. I spent Calc learning "Set", such a hard game.

At least it wasn't scorching 90-degree weather again. The clouds came and made everything cool. I love that kind of weather.

Yearbook signing was productive. The list is now:

  Sascha
  Lizzy
  Spree
  Yuki
  Leanne
  Megsie
  Margaret

I will stalk you guys and make y'all sign my yearbook!
6.13.02 6:46 PM (Thursday)  Bad day
I don't know why I found today bad. Maybe it was because of the 90-degree weather and it was unbearably hot o_O

The day started off nice. 2nd period--Statistics. I checked in with Ms. Farmer and went to the library and wasted the entire period. I of course did go get the Key Club money for the fundraisers and deposit that in with the fiscal secretary, but other than that, it was uneventful. Also, David wouldn't come to school for a while and he had my yearbook.

We had a junior class meeting during tutorial, which was useless, followed by manual labor in EMT. I didn't really enjoy either one. And EMT was so boring and tedious... still, no yearbook.

Lunch I finally found David, who hadn't signed my yearbook. But I had to go to a Key Club officer's meeting, which took up the entire period.. It was actually annoying not having my yearbook up until the end of lunch, but oh well...

At least 6th period was interesting. I stayed in the classroom to have a sign language lesson by Joanna, and yeah it was pretty cool. Of course we finished like an hour early and everyone was going to the lake, I opted to stay behind, where I ended up staying in the field. So hot.

Of course, because I don't have a life, my day ends at the school day. To think it went so badly because of a yearbook o_O O_o o_O Unthinkable.

Let me make a list of all the people who still need to sign my yearbook:

  Sascha
  Melissa
  Lizzy
  Christina
  Aaron
  Graham
  Spree
  Alex Lee
  Aaliyah
  Alesha
  Peter
  Yuki
  Leanne
  Megsie
  Celia
  Kim
  Jennifer
Margaret (has anyone seen her at school at all this past month? o_O)
  Jeffo

I doubt I'll get everyone to sign it tho.

One more thing... only HW I have left is Japanese skit, which I've memorized so it's no HW, and Statistics project, which I should be done with tonight (hopefully). Easy sailing from here on academically.
6.12.02 11:05 PM (Wednesday)  Seniors' real last day
I first realized it was senior check-out day when the school seemed completely empty at the beginning of school.

Run-down of the day: 1st period we "practiced" our skits in Japanese, but halfway through the period no one was really doing much of anything. I used the time to get all the Japanese peeps to sign my yearbook! Sarah (the freshman) used one page to sign, and it was really neat b/c she drew this anime-style version of me and it was neat.

In History nothing too eventful happened, we watched Saving Private Ryan, which I had missed yesterday, and I used the period to sign yearbooks. I wasn't watching the movie so I was really bored playing an hour or so of Uncle Worm...

Lunch we had a Key Club meeting, I didn't do much after that.

At the beginning of 5th period I gave my yearbook to Eugene to have people in 5th period Precalc sign it. So I did that, went to Gaither's, found out I would be getting a 92% even without the project (that's the grade I was getting before the final o_O), so I decided not to do it. Halfway through we were allowed to go chill outside in the sun, so Brian and I walked around school before heading out to Chinatown to get some bubble tea at Gossip.

After that, I went back to Precalc to get my yearbook, and I just chilled there signing yearbooks. Afterschool I gave my yearbook to David to sign at home. I hope he has a lot to say, because if he got one and I were to sign it I know there would be a whole bunch I would want to say.

So lessee... so many more people need to sign my yearbook. Hopefully all the 4th period Creighton ppl are going to class tomorrow, so I can just give it to someone there and have them pass it around.
6.11.02 8:17 PM (Tuesday)  Seniors' last day
Today was eventful in that it was the seniors' last complete school day. Of course, they'll be back tomorrow for check-out, but still...

Today, I also had a yearbook-signing frenzy. Yet not too many of my closest friends have signed it yet... as least, the people I consider my closest friends... because I don't see them that often...

Well, at least all the seniors I wanted to sign my yearbook signed it. During lunch I went into the library and got Na'Viena to sign it! Haven't seen her in forever, but she was really happy I sent her a Kiss-a-Senior Goodbye.

That was the other thing that went today that made it hectic. During 3rd I went back to Trimble's to finish making/distributing the Kiss-a-Senior Goodbyes, except we ran out of that nylon mesh stuff, so I had to bug Ms. Ross and Ms. Hungate-Hawke if they had any. They did, and I rushed to finish the seven that were unmade. Then I had approximately 8 or so minutes to deliver them. I rushed through to Gaither's and Brierly's, which were on the 3rd floor, then I ran downstairs to the 2nd floor rooms before stopping by McBennet's in 106. I had 3 left, for Portable 8 people, but the bell rang and 3rd period was over. So I ran and got my stuff in Creighton's, went back to Trimble's to ask her for a pass, went to the counseling office to find out the 4th periods of these 3 people, and finished giving them out. Crazy crazy.
6.10.02 6:35 PM (Monday)  Another UW Adventure
Today was a hectic day. I skipped 3rd and went to Trimble's room to make and distribute Kiss a Senior Goodbyes. And after that... I went to Stever's to implement a survey for Stats.

Also, our final in Calc was today. We didn't know about it prior o_O Anyways, it was a group test, so it's all good...

The highlight of my day was afterschool. I rode the 48 with Austin to the UW and we looked for our classes. One lecture hall class and two classes in actual classrooms! It's kinda freaky. For some reason I'm dreading the whole teacher-student interaction thing with a college professor. But it'll be interesting.
  6.7.02 4:19 PM (Friday)  Clarification
Ohhh, that was Anna Hoang, not Anna Ma. Alesha she has your coat, but I doubt you're reading this...
6.7.02 4:06 PM (Friday)  Alex's trunk hates me
Anna called up an hour ago, anyone know what that's about?

So today was Purple and White Day. The first two periods were a wash, and then it was the Purple and White assembly! Nothing too eventful except--at the end the mike stopped working so we couldn't cross over to the senior section. Boo. Oh well, at least we got in line kinda early for yearbooks.

We got our yearbooks, and planned to meet up at Red Robin, but things got kinda screwy. I stayed with Alex G. and Michele and Lily and Gabino and we ventured into Duong's room for... DDRMAX. Ooh. Then we went downstairs for the usual gym activities (haven't missed a year yet!) and then dropped the girls off on the Ave. Alex and I proceeded to Southcenter to eat and play MAX2 (it has Sarina Paris! that surprised me) and then to FFC for a few rounds of 5th mix. I passed B4U Glorious (long) version! it surprised me, and I was so beat. And my eye was strangely twitching. Maybe it's because I stayed up all night last night...

Well afterwards we went to Baskin Robbin's. A funny scene: the woman working there is making me a Chocolate Blast, and then it's all done and she's like "here ya go" and I'm like "is that large?" and she's like "oops you wanted large!" so she makes it again and takes the entire shake, dumps it into the blender again, puts more chocolate stuff in it and MIXES THE WHIPPED CREAM RIGHT INTO IT! Needless to say, it was exciting.

Then Alex dropped me off. But while getting my stuff Alex's trunk wouldn't open again, until Alex came out, and then it opened. I think it hates me. Oh well.

Here is the status of money owed and stuff: Alex G owes me $2, I owe Kim $1. That is all.
6.6.02 10:27 PM (Thursday)  Purple and White tomorrow... stressed out
So much crap is going on!

Let's start with the Kiss a Senior Goodbyes. Complete confusion. That's all I can say. I hope distribution goes smoothly on Monday, even though selling has gone kinda...

Stats final today! Pretty easy, considering I didn't study. But it was open book/notes. I went into the test with no worries whatsoever and I think I did fine. That mentality helps.

Ignite Mentorship informational meeting today as well. It's actually cool to think I'd be a mentor to freshmen... I just hope all my freshman aren't too ghetto and don't care about school at all. That would be hard.

Lunch was an hour and thirty minutes today, for the barbecue, so Kim and I went to Red Apple. We saw Austin along the way, and he came along. He told me we hung out last year for the schoolwide barbecue, with Amy, and we went to Ezell's and wondered why there was no one there, and then we realized it was because there was a barbecue o_O Don't remember that though.

Also, NHS Induction ceremony was tonight! It was funny because the only job Ms. Strentz had as an advisor was handing out the certificates and it kinda reflected her participation in the club... we thanked her a bunch of times at the end, and she got embarassed. It's all good though.

Finally... tonight is hell... I'm planning for tomorrow's Purple and White Day (Red Robin's, FFC anyone?) and trying to write my 7-10 page history paper that I haven't even started yet o_O Talk about an all nighter. There probably won't even be enough time in the night for me to finish. Well, as long as I get it done, quality doesn't really matter IMHO. It's mandatory extra credit.
6.4.02 9:47 PM (Tuesday)  Kiss a Senior Goodbye!
EVERYONE BUY KISS-A-SENIOR-GOODBYES! THEY'RE ONLY $.50! HELP SUPPORT OUR KEY CLUB!

So I'm heading up this Kiss-a-Senior-Goodbye thing for our Key Club. With Meredith actually. I've sold a few, I even went around yesterday selling them during lunch, but no one from Key Club wanted to help today so I was just like "eh I'll go get some lunch instead." The seniors were all out for graduation practice during lunch anyway... well, last day to buy them is tomorrow!
  6.1.02 9:59 PM (Saturday)  SAT's
The last big test of the year! I think. It was at Franklin. I arrived kinda late because I woke up 20 minutes before I got there o_O Quick shower and quick breakfast and I was set to go.

I had sniffles and I was coughing throughout the test. Not good. Thank goodness there were four math sections and three verbal; the math parts were kinda easy. I think I got maybe 5 wrong, which won't warrant me a perfect score, but it was a lot easier than the PSAT math.

The verbal section, on the other hand... was way too hard! So many words I didn't know. Still, I hope it's above 600.

On the way home I rode the bus and used my U-PASS for the first time. I felt so cool using it, lol... I'm a nerd.
